The 8th International Seminar Was Successfully Held
at Istanbul Technical University, Turkey,
on October 20th - 23th.
Since its first general meetings held in Yokohama, Japan, in 2006, PUL annual seminars were held in the worlds’ preeminent port cities where a member university is located. The history of PUL has been created by the followed meetings held in Chennai, India (the second), in Lisbon, Portugal (the third), in Yokohama again (the fourth), in Shanghai, China (the fifth), in Southampton, England (the sixth), and in Busan, Korea, before Istanbul.
Many researchers from 8 universities participated in this seminar to give presentations on various subjects and matters especially in the field of shipbuilding, shipping industry, marine environment and port activities. As a new member university, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was accepted to join the league. Publishing a newsletter among PUL members and also student exchanges among PUL member universities were suggested and discussed. On the last day of the seminar, the participants made a tour of Istanbul which was enriched by plentiful cultural and historical heritages.
The next seminar in 2015 is held in Sao Paulo (Brazil) to be hosted by University of Sao Paulo.
